IS A NUMERUS CLAUSUS (NC) REQUIRED TO STUDY AT HOCHSCHULE FRESENIUS?
Students without a numerus clausus (a specific average grade) may be admitted to Bachelor’s study programs at Hochschule Fresenius since we conduct an internal admission procedure (see page 15) to test your academic ability. We believe that your grades do not necessarily indicate the programs for which you are qualified. The admission requirements for Master’s study programs are outlined in the information for the relevant program. Our study advice team will be happy to help with any further questions.
ARE FEES CHARGED FOR THE STUDY PROGRAM?
Hochschule Fresenius is a privately run higher education institution whose programs are recognized but not funded by the state. Therefore, we must charge fees for our programs. The current program fees can be found on our website and in our fee overview.
CAN I CHANGE LOCATIONS DURING THE PROGRAM?
If you wish to spend two semesters in Berlin, then move to Cologne and write your final thesis in Munich, this poses no problem. We have campuses and study centers in Germany’s largest cities. The programs in Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, Idstein, Wiesbaden, Frankfurt am Main, and Heidelberg have identical content, which means you can swap location at the start or end of a semester without losing any time (provided your program is offered and a place is available). Many students use this as an opportunity to spend time in a different city getting to know new people.
ARE PLACES STILL AVAILABLE, AND HOW CAN I APPLY?
You can apply to Hochschule Fresenius via the application form (www.hsfresenius.de/en/application/) at any time. Here you will find all information about the documents required and how the process works. Semesters begin on September 1st and March 1st. Places are assigned based on date of application, so we recommend that you submit your documents as early as possible. Despite the huge demand, places may still be available on some programs shortly before the program begins, for example if applicants do not take up their places. Therefore, it may still be worth applying even if the new semester is about to start. We will then make every effort to accommodate your location requests.
IS THERE A SEMESTER TICKET?
In Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin, Idstein, Frankfurt am Main, and Wiesbaden, the social insurance contribution to be paid each semester also covers the cost of a semester ticket. However, this only applies to students on full-time programs. Unfortunately, Munich does not currently offer a discounted semester ticket for students. Students in Heidelberg can purchase a semester ticket if required.
CAN CREDITS BE TRANSFERRED?
Provided the subjects studied match with ours, we will make every effort to credit as many modules as possible for students who have already completed assessments in a program at another university. However, the decision always rests with the respective program director, and each case must be individually assessed.
