Working in Germany
International Students

WORKING DURING YOUR STUDIES

Many of our students work alongside their studies to earn a living and gain crucial work experience.
As an international student, there are a few things you’ll need to consider:

TYPES OF EMPLOYMENT

German has various words for similar forms of employment, which may be a little confusing at first. Here we provide a brief explanation:

FINDING A (STUDENT) JOB IN GERMANY

International students are often overwhelmed by the various formalities and processes involved in applying for a (student or full-time) job in Germany. This is where the Career Development department comes in, checking your CV and helping you with your application documents. You will receive detailed feedback and learn what German companies look for in an application.

Germany has various online job portals, starting with the Federal Employment Agency portal (Arbeitsagentur). Portals such as indeed.com, stepstone.de/en, and LinkedIn are also great ways to find jobs. Make sure to filter your search to focus on minijobs or Werkstudententätigkeiten. Each of our campuses also has a notice board where student job offers are regularly posted.

The Hochschule Fresenius StudyPLUS online platform is another way for students to find student jobs and internships. Our corporate partners and other companies post vacancies on StudyPLUS, which are then filtered to match your personal profile.
