Windesheim University Visits Hochschule Fresenius Berlin: Exploring Opportunities and Collaboration

Hochschule Fresenius Berlin recently welcomed a group of 45 Bachelor students in Commercial Economics from Windesheim University, Netherlands. The visit was part of their exploration for a semester abroad as part of their third-year studies. The students and their curators expressed great interest in Hochschule Fresenius’ programs, with 17 students considering our International Business School (IBS) for their semester abroad and 14 exploring the possibility of pursuing their Master’s studies with us.

The visit featured a comprehensive introduction to Hochschule Fresenius Berlin’s offerings, including a campus tour, detailed presentations on disciplines and credit systems, and discussions about intercultural and soft skills vital to succeeding in international markets. The Windesheim students’ current field study, “How to Start a Business in Germany or with Germans,” aligned perfectly with the day’s activities, enriching their understanding of Germany’s business environment.

A highlight of the visit was the Teachers-to-Teachers (T2T) collaboration meeting, where faculty and curators from both universities were engaged in discussions to explore future opportunities for institutional cooperation. Ideas ranged from sharing detailed program materials to co-creating initiatives such as a Cross-Cultural Hackathon. This proposed event would bring together Dutch, German, Indian, and other international groups to exchange insights on their experiences with the German business environment, fostering team learning and cultural understanding.

Windesheim University, renowned for its commitment to international engagement, organizes such field trips every semester as part of its International Management course. This semester’s trip focused on Berlin, while future semesters might explore other German cities such as Hamburg or Cologne, depending on the committee’s decision. Additionally, Windesheim hosts “International Weeks,” inviting representatives from partner universities to speak about their programs, Erasmus options, and collaboration opportunities—a potential next step for Hochschule Fresenius’ International Department.
