SAP Walldorf Campus Tour – A Day Inside Europe’s Largest Tech Hub
Students from the master’s program SAP Engineering & Analytics at the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences Heidelberg participated in an insightful academic excursion to the SAP Walldorf Campus.
The Campus is the global headquarters of SAP and one of the most significant technology centers in Europe. The visit offered students a direct look into the environment, culture, and digital solutions of the “world’s leading enterprise software provider.”
The program began at the SAP Training Center (WDF05), where the group was welcomed and accompanied by Prof. Dr. Erik Bertram, program director of the SAP Engineering & Analytics course. During a walk through the campus, students were introduced to several key buildings and learned about their respective functions within SAP’s organizational structure.
Interactive session at SAP with insights into AI solutions
A central element of the excursion was an interactive session led by members of the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) Experience Team. The team provided an overview of their work, explained practical aspects of customer projects, and discussed how different SAP teams collaborate to develop and deliver platform-based solutions.
The students then visited the SAP Experience Center, where they were introduced to real-world demonstrations illustrating how SAP technologies support business processes in sales, procurement, and material management. The session also included a presentation on Joule, SAP’s AI assistant, highlighting the increasing role of artificial intelligence within SAP’s product landscape.
Deeper dive with SAP specialists
The final part of the tour took place in SMART, an innovative retail concept developed by SAP and its partners. Here, students were shown how digital solutions enable modern shopping experiences and how SAP software supports end-to-end retail processes. The visit concluded with a Q&A session, giving participants the opportunity to engage with SAP specialists and deepen their understanding of current developments in enterprise technology.
Overall, the excursion provided students with a comprehensive and practice-oriented perspective on SAP’s headquarters, offering valuable insights into the technological foundation and strategic direction of a global software leader.
