Become an expert in licensing processes and pricing, gain the necessary qualifications for more senior roles at public authorities, institutes, or companies in the industry: In this Master’s program, you will not only acquire skills to meet the international requirements for qualified health economists but also familiarize yourself with healthcare systems from many cultural areas, and benefit from an intensive exchange of ideas with your fellow students.

You will learn to understand and analyze industry processes from an economic perspective. We will teach you methods such as statistics and cost-benefit analysis. As a graduate, you will be aware of how healthcare systems are established and funded, which political and regulatory factors play a role in the licensing of new drugs and medical devices, and how pricing structures work.

In addition to internationality and interdisciplinarity, the Master’s program in International Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics (M.Sc.) is characterized by its high level of practical content: Your four-month internship with a company or institution of your choice brings you into direct contact with day-to-day practice. You have plenty of time and opportunities to experience strategic processes and decision-making at first hand. About 80 percent of our students also complete their Master’s thesis at their chosen company or institution.

All the knowledge and skills you acquire in your classes have practical relevance and can be applied to everyday working life. Throughout your studies you write numerous semester papers, a project report, and a Master’s thesis. These are not just for research purposes but also deal with topics highly relevant to the healthcare industry.

Your way to Hochschule Fresenius

To be admitted to the Master’ study program in International Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics (M.Sc.) at Hochschule Fresenius, you need to fulfil the following admission requirements:

You must be able to provide evidence of an academic degree equivalent to 180 credit points.

Your first degree should demonstrate a background in the natural sciences, for example pharmacy, medicine, chemistry, biology, or nutrition. Degrees in health economics, economics, medical technology, mathematics, or statistics will also be accepted. To be admitted, you must also submit a statement of motivation.

Your English language skills must be equivalent to Level B2 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.

You haven’t completed your Bachelor’s degree yet? At Hochschule Fresenius, you can start your Master’s program and finish your Bachelor’s program at the same time, provided you have attained at least 80 percent of the credit points by the time of enrolment. In addition, Bachelor’s students at Hochschule Fresenius will only pay the monthly Master’s tuition fees when starting the Master’s program.
